cagrilintide

Amylin analogs · 7 suppliers · $1.35 to $14.00 per mg · 44 registered studies · 99 indexed papers

This page holds two records that were compiled separately. The research figures below come from the public registries named under each one, each read on the date printed beside it. The supplier prices at the foot were read on the suppliers own sites on the dates in that table. Nothing here was produced by this publication measuring anything.

Identity and computed properties

PubChem holds this compound as CID 171397054, molecular formula C194H312N54O59S2, average mass 4409 daltons and monoisotopic mass 4406.2515 daltons, read on 2026-09-16. Those masses are computed from the deposited structure and were not measured on any material, so they are the expected value an identity check compares against rather than evidence about any vial.

The title that record carries for the CID is Cagrilintide. Its synonym list runs to 13 entries. Among them: Cagrilintide [INN] and NN0174-0833.

Receptors the literature describes

in vitroIn vitro, the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics reported in June 2021 that this compound is a nonselective agonist at the amylin receptors and at the calcitonin receptor, and that amylin receptors are themselves heterodimers of the calcitonin receptor with receptor activity-modifying proteins. That paper reports it under the code name AM833, which is the name in its own title and is not in the synonym list PubChem returned for this CID, so a reader following the citation will find the compound under a name this page does not otherwise print.Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics · 2021-06 · DOI 10.1124/jpet.121.000567 · PMID 33727283 · read 2026-09-16

The characterization above is in vitro work, and two of its authors give Novo Nordisk as their affiliation, which is the company that developed the compound. No independent replication was reached by the searches recorded on this page.

The registered trial record

An intervention search of clinicaltrials.gov for the term cagrilintide, read on 2026-09-16, returned 44 registered studies: 17 phase 1, 5 phase 2 and 22 phase 3.

Novo Nordisk A/S is lead sponsor on 44 of the 44 records.

On the date read, the statuses those records carried were 24 completed, 10 recruiting and 7 active not recruiting, among others.

The earliest record the search returns is NCT04940078, first submitted 2021-06-22. That date is a floor, not an origin: earlier work may sit in the registry under a code number this search term does not match.

Registry counts measure registration, not knowledge.

The publication record

PubMed answered 99 records for the term cagrilintide on 2026-09-16. Of those, 15 carry a clinical-trial publication type, and 7 of those carry Clinical Trial, Phase III. 46 carry the publication type Review, which is other people reading the rest.

PubMed counts measure indexing, so work in venues it does not index is invisible to this figure. The term that produced it is printed above so it can be run again.

Regulatory status

A Drugs@FDA query on 2026-09-16 returned no application record for any of these 6 searches:

Every one of those searches answered HTTP 404 with NOT_FOUND on 2026-09-16, the date printed above them. The two names are the ones the PubChem record read for this compound holds: the INN, which is the name Drugs@FDA files a generic product under, and the developer's code number. Each name is searched on the three openFDA name fields, generic name, substance name and brand name, which is why two names make six searches. Three lookups that do answer were run on the same date as a control, so an empty answer here is an absence in the database rather than a query shaped wrongly: pramlintide returned NDA 021332, semaglutide returned NDA 213051 and bremelanotide returned NDA 210557. On the names checked, no United States application record stands for this compound. A name it may be filed under that is not listed above was not checked.

Two amylin analogs were checked in the regulatory lookups for this page: this compound, which returned no application record on the six searches printed above, and pramlintide, one of the control lookups run on 2026-09-16, which returned NDA 021332, sponsor ASTRAZENECA AB, with all three product formulations listed under it marked Discontinued. Neither of the two is marked as marketed, and this compound is the only member of the class in this publication's own class map, so no marketed article in this class was reached here for a laboratory to check a certificate against.

Findings, as published reports recorded them

humanThe 68-week phase 3a REDEFINE 1 report in the New England Journal of Medicine, 14 August 2025, recorded an estimated mean percent change in body weight from baseline to week 68 of minus 20.4 percent in the 2,108-participant arm given this compound together with semaglutide, against minus 3.0 percent in the 705-participant placebo arm. In plainer words, the group given both compounds lost about a fifth of its starting body weight over those 68 weeks and the placebo group lost about three percent, which is the comparison that trial was built to make.New England Journal of Medicine · 2025-08-14 · DOI 10.1056/NEJMoa2502081 · PMID 40544433 · read 2026-09-16

humanThat same trial assigned 302 of its 3,417 participants to this compound on its own, and the record read for this entry carries no body weight figure for that arm.New England Journal of Medicine · 2025-08-14 · PMID 40544433 · read 2026-09-16

humanA phase 3 report published under this name does give this compound an arm of its own. REIMAGINE 2, in Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, randomly assigned 2,713 participants with type 2 diabetes across six groups, 152 of them to this compound alone at 2.4 mg once weekly. Its primary endpoint compares the combination with semaglutide at 2.4 mg, minus 1.91 percentage points of glycated haemoglobin against minus 1.75, and the abstract read for this entry carries no glycated haemoglobin or body weight figure for the group given this compound by itself. That report carries an erratum, named in the list below, which was not read.Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology · 2026-08 · DOI 10.1016/S2213-8587(26)00125-7 · PMID 42251859 · read 2026-09-16

Adverse events, as published reports recorded them

humanThe REDEFINE 1 report recorded gastrointestinal adverse events in 79.6 percent of the group given this compound with semaglutide and in 39.9 percent of the placebo group, naming nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal pain, and describing them as mainly transient and mild to moderate in severity.New England Journal of Medicine · 2025-08-14 · PMID 40544433 · read 2026-09-16

humanThe REIMAGINE 2 report is the one record read here that carries an adverse event figure for this compound on its own, and it gives a figure for every one of its six groups: 125 of 152 given this compound alone at 2.4 mg, 82.2 percent; 105 of 149 given placebo, 70.5 percent; 524 of 603 given both compounds at 2.4 mg each, 86.9 percent; 491 of 605 given semaglutide at 2.4 mg, 81.2 percent; 485 of 594 given both compounds at 1.0 mg each, 81.6 percent; and 477 of 608 given semaglutide at 1.0 mg, 78.5 percent. All six of the groups the abstract read here gives a figure for are printed, so these are all the figures that abstract carries at that endpoint rather than a selection from them. The full report was not read, so this page cannot say what it carries beyond its abstract. Two of those denominators sit one participant below the number randomly assigned to that group. The abstract read here does not say what the denominators are, and it defines the safety assessment as covering everyone who received at least one dose, which would account for the difference. It names gastrointestinal disorders as the most common adverse events in the groups on active study product, and gives no breakdown by event in the abstract read here. That report carries an erratum, named in the list below, which was not read.Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology · 2026-08 · DOI 10.1016/S2213-8587(26)00125-7 · PMID 42251859 · read 2026-09-16

Spontaneous report databases are not used on this page. A count of reports carries no denominator, so it cannot be read as a rate and is not printed as one.

Who it is not given to

No doctor prescribes this. There is no approved product under this name on the Food and Drug Administration record, read 2026-09-16, so there is no label naming who must avoid it and why.

Read this as missing information, not as a clear record. Nobody has published who is at risk, which is not the same as nobody being at risk.

What has not been published

Where a line above says nothing has been compiled here, that is a gap in this publication's record. Where it says nothing is indexed or registered, that is a gap in the public record.

Every row is a price read on that supplier's own site, divided by the milligrams it buys. Cheapest first, which is not a ranking of quality: the columns beside the rate show what this publication could confirm about the evidence behind it. Some supplier links here are referral links, marked where they appear, which pay Terminus Research when a reader buys. The same terms are open to every supplier in the ledger, apart from the one exception the referral policy page names, participation changes no score, rank, caution, or coverage decision, and a link is not an endorsement.
